Just Go!

When I was a little girl I was terribly shy.  I would often not join in on activities because it was safer for me to remain by myself or in the company of a trusted adult.  As I grew up I carried this trait with me.  As a young adult I was an extreme introvert, but I often thought about what it would be like to do all those exciting things extroverts do, like talk to people without crippling anxiety.    When God called me into ministry this issue, let’s just call it that, was something that I knew I was going to need to work on.  After all, I was going to have to talk to people if I was going to be a pastor.  The Holy Spirit has been continually working on me in this area, pushing me, pulling me, making me grow in this area.  Sometimes, the Holy Spirit says, “Just Go and do this or that…” and sometimes I listen and sometimes I just want to push those things aside because they are hard things.  Sigh!

I invite you to read the scripture for today about Ananias and his encounter with the Lord asking him to do something and him trying to push it aside.  Then I will see you in the video to talk about Ananias and you and me and what to do with this wanting to push things aside.

Read: Acts 9:1-19

Questions to Consider:

  1. Have you ever said “But God…” when God has said “Just go…”?
  2. What made you say “But God”?
  3. What can you do in your life to make it easier to “Just Go”?

Prayer: God of Adventures, help me to listen for your voice and to say yes when you call on me.  Help me to just go when I am needed in other places or when other people need me to be your hands and feet.  In your name, Amen.

Blessings,
