I love a good nap. As I write this, it is actually Sunday late in the afternoon. Today has been a busy day, and I have not had a chance to take my Sunday afternoon nap. We had services as usual and then our special healing service. It was a beautiful service. I had to stop at the grocery store on my way home to get a few items. Then, yes, I was finally home. Except it wasn’t resting time yet. I still had a load of laundry to take care of and a dog who wanted, no expected, a nice long Sunday afternoon walk. When I finally settled down on the sofa, I remembered the Lenten Study…I still had to film a video, write my thoughts and do all the uploading. Goodness…no nap for me. I am now at the place, 6 pm, where it is better to push on until bedtime, then sweet rest. But I do love a good nap.
Anyway, I am telling you all of this to set you up for our reading today. Because you know, sometimes our rest gets interrupted and we have to go with the flow.
Now, I plan to take it nice and easy tomorrow or, um, today (remember, I am writing this on Sunday). It is my day off, and a nap will be in order. Because, after all, I do love a good nap.
Reflection Questions:
- How do you know when you are overtired and need a good rest? Do you start to lose patience with those around you?
- How can you work at practicing compassion even when you are feeling less than compassionate?
- In what ways is the Holy Spirit calling you to serve?
So What Activity: If you are overtired and have been running on empty…well, take a nap. It is good to rest.
Blessings,
