Read today’s scripture….Micah 6:6-8
When I was a little girl, my mother had a few special things she always wanted me to do. She always wanted me to keep my bedroom clean. If I left for school and had a messy room, I was sure to come home and find all the mess on my bed. My mother did that, so I had to clean it up before I could sleep. The other thing that my mother always wanted was for me to know where my things were located. This goes along with having a clean room. If I asked her where my shoes were or if she had seen my belt, she would always say, “Kristyne, a place for everything and everything in its place.” Sometimes she would say it with a big sigh because she had to say it so many times. I was not a tidy child.
I imagine God is speaking to humanity in this same way, with a big sigh, because God has told us repeatedly what we are to do. God says, “No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good…”. Just like my mom, God has just a few things we are to be focused on…for my mom; it was cleaning my room and putting everything in its place; for God, it is doing what is right, love mercy, and walking humbly with God.
