Romans 8:35, 37-39
35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?
37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I love the Bible. I have found that every time I read it, I discover something new. Sometimes I will find something new in a passage that I have read many times. Sometimes I will stumble upon a section of the Bible that I do not read as often and find a powerful word waiting for me. I love how God’s Word speaks to us in so many ways!
But I do have to confess; this was not always the case. For much of my life, at least the first 35 years or so, I hardly read the Bible. I went to church (except when I left for five years) and prayed (well, I prayed at church). Since I went to church and prayed (sometimes), I thought all was well. However, I now know I was missing a BIG piece of the picture. I was going through the motions of loving God, but that was it. Once I started taking seriously reading the scriptures, praying, studying, and being attentive to worship and communion, well my whole life changed. Once that happened to me, I wanted more than anything for everyone to have a changed life. To know the peace and love I felt in my relationship with God. Do you have that peace?
So What Activity: Go for a walk outside in God’s creation and take it all in! Spend some time in honest prayer with God about how everything has been going. See if you can tap into that peace and love that is flowing from God.
Blessings,
Kristyne
