Mark 3:7-12

What sort of things do you go out of your way to do?  Or better put, what sort of things do you make sure happen, even if it means you must be inconvenienced?  When I was in seminary, I was working a full-time job, was a full-time student, and was a full-time wife and mom.  I often felt guilty that I was not spending enough quality time with my children.  I decided that we would get season passes to Disney World.  I knew if I spent all that money, I would go out of my way to make sure we used the passes.  It forced me to put down my work, put down my studies, and just have fun with my kids.  Sometimes I did not want to drive all the way to Disney though.  Sometimes I didn’t feel like I had the time to go.  Sometimes I just didn’t think I had the energy.  But we went anyway, the three years I was in seminary we must have traveled to Disney almost every other week.  To me, spending quality time with my kids and getting away from work and studies was important, important enough for me to go out of my way.

In today’s scripture, many people went out of their way to see Jesus.  They were going to make sure they were able to touch him no matter what.  Take a moment to watch the video and then think about my question at the end.

The Way of Peace Prayer: Jesus, I choose to follow your Way of Peace.  Lead me to one person that I can love, give hope, and bring your peace today.

Blessings – Kristyne
