Welcome

It’s fall…well almost, fall will officially arrive on September 22.  However, in my home fall is already here.  I have all my fall decorations out, fall blankets and my fall pumpkin spice candles.  Everything seems a little more cozier and it does seem like a good time to start a Bible study together.  We have never done a fall Bible study, so I would like to be the first to welcome you to Read Along with Us, A Fall Bible Blog.  This study is going to take us all over the Bible.  We will send most of our time in the New Testament, but we will spend a little bit of time in the Old Testament as well.  You will only have readings and receive emails on the weekdays, Saturday and Sunday you will have off to either rest or catch up.  The best way to participate in the study is to read the opening message, then read the Bible passage and then watch the video.  We are going to try and keep the videos to less than 4 minutes.  After the video we encourage you to journal about the questions to consider.  Finally take a moment to close your study time with a short prayer.  In all this study study will run until almost the end of October and each week will focus on the theme for the upcoming weekends message.  Above all Pastors Jim, Loida and I hope that you enjoy the study and that you develop a habit for daily Bible reading and journaling.

Enjoy your reading for the day and I will see you in the video!

Read: Luke 5:1-11

Questions to Consider:

  1. Have you ever not really wanted to do something Jesus has asked you to do?
  2. What happened when you finally did it?
  3. Jesus said to Simon, James and John, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!”  And then they left everything and followed Jesus. What does following Jesus look like in your life?

Prayer: Gracious God, thank you for this study and this chance for each of us to meet with you within the words of our story. Bless this day and all of our comings and goings. Help us to be fishers of men and women. Amen.

Blessings,
