The Burial of a King

Here we are back at the cross.  This time we are with Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, both who have been quite secretive about following Jesus, now in the open preparing his body for the grave.  Nicodemus has brought the perfume of myrrh and aloes, around 75 pounds of it.  If you recall, days earlier, Mary anointed Jesus with a pound of expensive ointment.  At that time a fuss was made by Judas about the cost of the expensive ointment.  See here now how Nicodemus honors Jesus with 75 pounds of perfume, he is honoring Jesus as a king.  What a transformation for Nicodemus from the visit in the night to this moment.  History is silent about Nicodemus after this passage.  I wonder what his reaction was when he saw the risen Jesus.  I wonder how much more his life was forever transformed.  I invite you to read the scripture for the day and then join me in the video.

Read: John 19:28-42

Questions to Consider:

  1. Have you ever felt like God was calling you to clean out an area of your life, to be transformed?  What is or has stopped you in the past?
  2. Why is it important for us to keep on growing in our lives?

Prayer: God, thank you for this day and this week. Thank you for this chance to learn about Nicodemus and his life. Help me to be transformed each day into a new creation. Amen.

Blessings,
