Monday, March 8, 2021 – What Should We Do?

Today before you read the selection from John 1 want to remind you of a story about Abraham from Genesis.  I believe we have mentioned this story a time or two in messages.  It is found in chapter 8, verses 1-8 if you want to read it for yourself.  But the story finds Abraham sitting outside his tent and some messengers of the Lord arriving.  Abraham runs to meet them, brings them into the shade, has their feet washed and good food made for them.  In other words he welcomes God’s massagers with radical hospitality.  As you read the selection from John today try and figure out why this story from Genesis is relevant.

Read: John 8:31-59

We are getting ready to study the Five Practices of a Fruitful Congregation together (after Easter).  One of these practices are Radical Hospitality!  Radical Hospitality is the active desire to invite, welcome, receive and care for those who are strangers so that they find a spiritual home and discover for themselves the unending richness of life in Christ.  Consider this definition as you answer the questions below.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Have you experience Radical Hospitality in your local neighborhood?
  2. Have you experience Radical Hospitality in our church?
  3. Have you extended Radical Hospitality to a stranger in you circle of influence?

So What Activity:  Have you been praying the prayer of Jabez each day?  Do you have it memorized.  Test your memory and see if you can recite it from memory.

Blessings,
