Witness:  Rick Elliott

Scripture:  2 Chronicles 7:14

Weekly Theme: Peace

In an age of overwhelming information technology, there are endless stores of information available to many of the people on the planet daily but not all.  These advances in recent years have allowed us to connect and navigate our world in ways we never thought possible.

One of the greatest blessings of knowing Christ is our ability to experience His presence in our lives through prayer.  It’s hard to believe that our access to the Creator of the Universe with all knowledge and power has been available to every human being since the beginning of time.  That access comes without any internet fees, any special equipment, or outages.

I am grateful for those times in my day when I spend time with the Lord in prayer.  It is a comfort and a privilege to be in His presence.  Speaking to God is not just a one-way communication.  God speaks back during those moments when I am still and seeking His counsel as He wants to be a part of our lives.

God has promised that if we seek Him, call on His name that He will answer our prayers.  He turns no one away.  He actually challenges us in His Word to prove His faithfulness as a source of getting our needs met through asking Him.  He also reminds us in scripture that we don’t have our needs met because we don’t ask.  God is such a loving and awesome God and wants to meet our needs.  He does not want us to go lacking.

My prayer is to challenge you to spend time with God and get to know and experience this Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Way Maker, and prayer-answering God.

Daily Prayer:  Help me, Lord, each day to seek your presence in prayer, to be still and know that you are God, and to follow you faithfully that you might be glorified in my life.

Discussion/Reflection Questions:

  1. Are you experiencing the presence of God in your prayer life?
  2. Would you be willing to challenge yourself to spend more time with God in prayer?
  3. Have you really thought about the privilege that we have being able to go to God in prayer?
