Summer of Love – August 11

Read Psalm 86

But you, O Lord,
are a God of compassion and mercy,
slow to get angry
and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.

As I said the other day, I love the Psalms.  They teach us so much.  I had planned on only looking at verse 5 for this study, but when I went back to read the whole Psalm, I decided we should all read the entire thing.

This world is full of all sorts of problems.  And sadly, the problems often just keep coming.  As followers of Jesus, we are not immune to the world’s problems.  We will have trouble and many problems that we must endure.

In times of trouble, we might feel all different things towards God.  We might become angry at God.  We might start to bargain with God.  We might turn away from God.  We might feel disappointed with God.  All of these feelings are real and honest and OKAY to feel.  Our God is big enough to take all of our big feelings.  God loves us more than we can comprehend.  As the Psalm says, God is full of compassion and mercy and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.  Unfailing love!  That is something that is always there for us, no matter the way we are feeling.

We should be thankful for this love and do everything we can to pass it on to the people around us.  How are you doing with this?

Questions:

  1. When has your love failed?
  2. How did you discover that your love had failed?
  3. Did you do anything to right the situation?

Blessings,
Kristyne

  1. Thank you so very much for what you wrote for today. It was a message I need to hear right now. I need to be reminded of God’s unfailing love and that it’s always there for me. I’m currently finding that believing in that I a challenge.

    1. We all have those sorts of seasons in our lives. The wonderful thing about seasons is change will come. Keep on leaning into God and Gods love!
