Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Summer of Love!!! We are almost to the end of our summer of love, yet we must remember that God’s love is with us always and that we express God’s love by letting it flow out of us to those around us.
Today’s scripture has been my “life verse,” “My grace is all you need!” Sometimes I have a long list of things that I need. Not only things that I need but virtues and personal characteristics. I need courage, I need strength, I need perseverance, etc., etc., etc. Yet God reminds me, “My grace is all you need.”
Not only that, but this scripture also reminds me that God’s power works best through my weaknesses. Imagine that! I am always amazed that God continually works in ways contrary to our worldview and culture. In our minds we often view the strong as the ones that survive, the strong as those who overcome, and we view the weak as those who fail in their endeavors. That’s not the way of God!
God used a run-away murderer to deliver his children from slavery (Moses), a simple shepherd to become king of Israel (David), and simple fishermen to proclaim the greatest message of hope and grace. Like Paul, we can boast in our weaknesses! And, probably like you, I have more than enough opportunities when I will feel weak. When I walk into a meeting and things are not the way I expected, I often feel weak. When I receive a phone call with disappointing or discouraging news, I feel weak. When I get irritated because I must throw away my agenda, and when my to-do list has absolutely nothing scratched off at the end of the day, I feel weak!
So, today, I want to keep this in my mind… “My grace is all you need.” “My grace is all you need.” “My grace is all you need!” I’ll keep repeating it however many times I need to repeat it, I invite you to repeat it with me as we go through our day, trusting fully in God’s grace for us.
So What Activity: Make a list of your “perceived” weaknesses, then write over it “My Grace is Sufficient,” then throw it away!
Blessings,
Loida
