Every time I read today’s passage (Mark 4:1-20) I am reminded of a story from my early years in ministry.
At one of the first churches I served, I had a middle-aged couple who were active members. Even though they were quite active, I had my suspicions that the husband was not really into all the “God” stuff of Christianity. It would come out in comments he made and in the ways that he participated in our community.
My suspicions were finally realized one day when he came to me, after having had a powerful God experience. He expressed that day that he had not been a follower of Christ and that it was just a way to make his wife happy, but that he had experienced something that he couldn’t explain, and he knew Christ was real and Christ was present for him.
He began to study, and to attend church functions and exhibit an excitement that was quite contagious. One day he came into my office and said he felt God was calling him into ministry. But that is the rest of the story, which I will share on the video, after you read today’s Scripture from Mark, chapter 4.
So, have fun reading the passage below and then join me in the video.

The Way of Peace Prayer: Jesus, I choose to follow your Way of Peace. Lead me to one person that I can love, give hope, and bring your peace today.
