Day 23 – Psalm 81
Below is a picture of my granddaughter Sloan. She is getting so big. I do now understand how fast kids grow and move from season to season. When Sloan comes to visit, I get the playpen out, the highchair, toys, crayons and coloring books. I also make sure all my breakables are put up high. When it is time to eat, sometimes Sloan lets me know she prefers noodles over green beans and sometimes she prefers peas over carrots. She does this by simply opening or closing her mouth, lol. I know she will learn words soon to express her feelings. I thought about this when I was reading Psalm 81, because in vs. 10b, it says: “Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.” This psalm that begins as a psalm of praise, then moves to God’s plea with his children to not turn away from him. God has food and sustenance for us that we have no need to find that sustenance anywhere else. At the end of the psalm, vs. 16 states, “But I would feed you with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock.” If Sloan refuses to open her mouth, she will miss out on the great food I have prepared for her. In the same way, we as children of God sometimes by refusing to meditate in God’s word, by refusing to seek God in worship and in prayer, are basically closing our mouth to the good things he has prepared for us. God ahead, open your mouth and praise God today!

Psalm 81
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for your provision for me today. I pray for many who are hungry and thirsty. Break my heart that I might step up to do and serve where I can. In the meantime, let me open my mouth wide in praise to you, my God and my savior. Amen!
Blessings,
Loida
