Day 31 – Psalm 111

Have you ever read a book that is so good that you want to jump to the end to know what happens? I often want to, but I never do, because I know I will miss out on something important that will help me understand the resolution of the story. Today, we enter into the last book of the Psalms, book 5, and though it is not a continuous story, it does signal that we are approaching the end of this book of prayers, laments, and praises. In Psalm 111, the author lists as many reasons to praise God as he/she can envision. This past weekend, as a nation we experienced an act of violence at a political rally. We respond in shock and amazement, yet if we had been paying attention to our daily news, we would have realized that we are in unknown territory. As people generally respond not in kindness but in anger and violence. Maybe the psalmist is challenging us to stop and begin making daily lists of reasons to be thankful. Voice those reasons loudly, share them in your Face book page, call your friends and let them know, for this is indeed a good thing. We have so much to be thankful for. Maybe, it takes practice to speak gratitude and kindness. So, today, take time to practice. Share with at least three people, three reasons why today, you are thankful! Let’s change the atmosphere, let’s allow the Holy Spirit to transform us and our corners of the world, by speaking peace, speaking Jesus, and speaking love and kindness. Dare to spread kindness today!

Psalm 111

Prayer: Sweet Jesus, today we praise you. We adore you for the beautiful world you have given to us. We are thankful for friends and family. We are thankful for shelter and food. We pray for those who are lacking basic needs. We pray for those who grieve. Helps us dear Lord that we might be a blessing to others and not cause pain. Amen!

Blessings,

Loida
