Summer Study – Day 36

Read Psalm 136

Well, you win some, and you lose some.

Sunday morning, I even told Toby that I couldn’t forget to film my video, and then, BAM, the whole day changed. Such is life, though. We have good days and bad days, up days and down days, silly days and serious days, days we wish we could live over and over again, and days we do not want to remember.  But this Psalm and many others remind us that even though we waver, our faith wavers, and even our love wavers, we have a God whose faithful love endures forever.

While researching this Psalm, I learned that many congregations use it as a call to worship, with the congregation repeating, “His faithful love endures forever.”  I think this is a beautiful way to engage with the Psalm.  Then I got to thinking and thought it would be great to write my own lines.

Even when I am having a bad day.

His faithful love endures forever.

Even when Toby scares me and the whole church.

His faithful love endures forever.

As I prepare to welcome my new kindergarteners.

His faithful love endures forever.

As the world seems to be divided by hate.

His faithful love endures forever.

When I forget to do the things I am tasked to do.

His faithful love endures forever.

When I can’t sleep.

His faithful love endures forever.

I encourage you to spend some time today writing your own lines for this Psalm and then let those lines be your prayer for the day.

Blessing: Kristyne
