Psalm 138 New Living Translation
A psalm of David.
In Psalm 138, we are nearing the end of the Book of Psalms and beginning a short collection of Psalms (138-145) associated with the title Royalty Psalms because they are attributed directly to David. Identified as both a political song of justice and a personal psalm of thanksgiving, this psalm seeks neither to sugarcoat nor lament the troubles of this world but rather to meet the realities of life realistically with a declaration of faith that is grounded and honest.
Prayer: Divine Source,
With grateful hearts, we come singing praises for your boundless love and faithfulness – your Hesed. We bow down, giving thanks for your unwavering presence in our lives.
In the midst of our struggles, you hear our cries. When we walk in the midst of trouble, you answer us with strength and courage.
May we walk confidently, knowing that you, guide our steps and illuminate our path. As we journey through life, help us to reflect your light, spreading kindness, compassion, and love to all we encounter.
In your radiant name, we pray. Amen.
Peace,
Suzanne
