First, let me clarify, there are still two days left in the Summer Study. In my video, I kind of made it sound like it was the last day. So, wait, you are not finished YET! There’s still Thursday and Friday, so hang in there, two more psalms.
If you are not familiar with this psalm, I hope you will take the time to read it, and to read it slowly. Take time to enjoy and bask in the assurance and faith of the writer, that God knows everything there is to know about you and me; and even after knowing everything, God is near. I have had many people mention to me how they felt so alone in a situation in life, or a family member who died alone, or even a child might be far away and alone. Listen to the words of that psalm again, “I can never escape from your Spirit!” I have assured many, though, you thought you were alone, you were not. There is no place we can hide from God’s Spirit, and rather than fear, that should bring us comfort.
Living in this assurance of God’s presence, makes us the trees planted by the riverbank that we read about in Psalm 1, for those whose faith is in God,
“They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” (Psalm 1:3)
Today, go out and live knowing that God’s Spirit is with you wherever you go. You are not alone! Trust God!
Prayer: Lord God, once again I thank you for the scriptures that bring comfort and guidance into our lives. Thank you for the assurance that we are never alone. There is no place we can hide from you. In fact, you desire complete communion and fellowship with us. Thank you, Jesus, today, we give you praise and honor. Amen!
Blessings,
Jim and Loida
