Psalm 145 NLT

Psalm145 is the only psalm to be identified as a “song of praise.” It is also an acrostic poem, meaning each verse begins with a new letter of the Hebrew alphabet. This indicates it may have been created for memorization. It occurs to me that memorization may well have been encouraged not only as a means of praising God but also to remind the world of God’s particular message of care for all humanity even and especially the most vulnerable.

Prayer

Eternal Spirit of Love,

We come before you with hearts full of awe and gratitude. Your greatness is beyond our understanding.

You are good to all, and your compassion is over all creation. You are near to all who call on you and watch over all who love you — especially the most vulnerable among us. May our lives reflect your love, mercy, and justice as we strive to embody your teachings in all we do.

In your ever-loving name, we pray. Amen.

Peace,

Suzanne

Thank you Suzanne. This was amazing. I read the link you sent. That was so outrageous what the soldiers did. Those poor people. They just wanted to live in peace and we tricked them. I pray their relatives can find forgiveness to those who are so sad over this event.

    1. yes – much healing work is still needed but our United Methodist ongoing Act of Repentance started at the General Conference of 2012 and expanded in 2016 has done much to begin the work – and of course we can do our part as individuals too by listening and acknowledging the generational trauma that continues.
