When I think of the gifts I have been given, I cannot seem to recall a single one.
I do remember the gifts I have given, especially the reactions of the receivers. When I was in college and home on Christmas break, my youngest sister, Sharon, asked me to help her “make/sew” a purse for her best friend. While we were buying the materials, we bought enough for my sister to have a similar item. She struggled to make the purse; the sewing machine was not her friend. We ripped seams out and put them together again, multiple times. Finally, it was done and it looked great! I suggested we do hers the next day and Sharon was adamant when she said, “no way!” I decided to put it all away. Then, when she was out of the house, I took the material for the second purse and made her purse. I wrapped it and put it under the Christmas tree. She was floored when she opened that gift. Luckily, we have a picture of that surprise, but I will always remember. I was beyond tickled.
This memory got me to thinking. Imagine how God feels when we express our amazement at the good gifts that He gives us. He has given me more than I can count. I know my gratitude doesn’t begin to measure up to the uncountable blessings I have been given. Thank you, Lord, for the many, abundant gifts you have given me.
Prayer: Lord, you have given me such great gifts, beyond measure. Today, I praise and thank you for each one. It is beyond my imagination that You love me this much. I am amazed and blessed all at once. Thank you for Jesus. Amen.
